Hotel La Darsena

La Darsena is a three star hotel located inside the Gulf of Follonica: it is a few kilometres from the city of Follonica, 12 kilometres from Punta Ala and 15 kilometres from Castiglione della Pescaia.

It overlooks Scarlino harbour and is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation rich in trees, aromatic herbs and  fauna. It is near the most precious beaches of the Gulf and the famous Cala Violina.

The harbour was founded during the Etruscan period but its main development occurred during the Roman period when it was known as Scabris Portus, from which Scarlino took its current name. Today it is the nautical base of the Tyrrhenian  Sea, denominated Etrusca Marina, from which many ships depart for  the Tuscan  Archipelago, Corsica and Sardinia. It is the ideal place where to leave ones boat all year round (there are 1100  boat spaces) and it is also famous for the regattas  and nautical initiatives.
For its position, the hotel attracts tourism from the other parts of Italy (in particular the North) and from North and Central Europe.

The hotel has historical roots and has today been renovated and tastefully refurbished to satisfy the clients ‘ needs and requirements.

There are sixty rooms with balconies and  views, ideal for couples and families (30 family bedrooms with 2 or 3 beds, 30 family bedrooms with 4 beds and the possibility of an extra bed, and 4 bedrooms for disabled people). There is also a restaurant, a bar-pizzeria, some communal areas  (with a gym, a hall with television and games), a swimming pool, a solarium, an internal car park,  a park and a well equipped beach.
